Dr. Mohammed Mehaidat is a clinical psychologist with more than three decades of experience in pain psychology, rehabilitation, and mental health. Trained in Egypt, he returned to Jordan where he began a clinical career marked by a commitment to understanding the psychological dimensions of physical suffering.
Early in his career, Dr. Mehaidat joined the Royal Medical Services at Al Hussein Medical City, one of Jordan's foremost medical institutions, where he developed his clinical practice within a multidisciplinary care environment. He later brought that expertise to humanitarian medicine through his work with the Jordan Red Crescent.
Drawn to the specialized intersection of physical rehabilitation and psychological recovery, Dr. Mehaidat spent over five years at the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City in Saudi Arabia — a leading international rehabilitation center — where he worked with patients navigating long-term recovery from injury, illness, and chronic pain.
Today, Dr. Mehaidat continues his work in Jordan, where he writes and publishes in both Arabic and English on the psychology of pain, the mental health of injured athletes, and the broader landscape of emotional wellbeing.
the mind shapes recovery.
Chronic pain is never purely physical. Dr. Mehaidat's work explores how psychological factors — beliefs, emotions, and past experience — shape the way pain is perceived, endured, and ultimately overcome. His research bridges clinical psychology and rehabilitation medicine.
Injury doesn't just affect the body — it challenges identity, confidence, and purpose. Drawing on decades of work with injured athletes, Dr. Mehaidat examines the psychological journey of rehabilitation: from the shock of injury to the complexity of return-to-sport.
Beyond clinical specialties, Dr. Mehaidat writes accessibly on depression, loss of interest, emotional exhaustion, and the quieter struggles of everyday psychological health — in both Arabic and English, for patients and families who need clarity, not jargon.

If you have been told your pain is unexplained, exaggerated, or simply something to live with — this writing is for you. Understanding the psychology of pain is not a replacement for medical care. It is a missing piece of it.
Coaches, physiotherapists, and family members often see the emotional toll of injury without knowing how to address it. This writing offers frameworks for understanding — and language for the conversations that matter.
You do not need a diagnosis to benefit from psychological understanding. If you have been feeling low, disengaged, or simply not yourself — and you want clarity without clinical jargon — this is a place to start.
or simply a place to start. Whether you are a patient seeking to understand your experience, a professional interested in collaboration, or a journalist or institution looking to connect — Dr. Mehaidat welcomes thoughtful correspondence.
